Day 7 of Majikoi S Trial Translation

Didn't get a lot done today, but as stated previously, we don't expect a lot of progress during the weekends. Will most likely reach the halfway point by tomorrow.

We are still in need of a hacker to hack the script file. As of now, all we have is a giant text file of translated stuff and no way to get it inside the game. Any help is appreciated.

  5. Yandere Translation probably have the hacking tool to hack it, but we've been asking on their IRC for a while, and there was no response. I guess nobody's checking the IRC

  6. Any reason you're going with the trial? It actually cuts out quite a few scenes from the common route, so it won't transfer over quite perfectly.

    1. Well, this is our first translation, so I wanted to see how well we can do with the trial version before jumping into the whole thing.

      The trial version has some cut out part in the common route(ex. The East-West war), but I think we can translate that in a 1~3 days if we actually decide to translate the whole thing.

      Also, the trial version's easier to download and smaller, so it'd be easier to distribute and let people check our work.

  7. Your idea to go with the trial is actually a very good idea. I assume you can use the same text for existing parts of the full version if you do decide to translate that too. Good luck!

  8. I'm new to this whole visual novel business, so I have a quick question. If you were to start on the whole game today, how long do you think it would take you to finish?

    1. I'm pretty new to this visual novel business too
      This is our 8th day on this project, and we're around 60% from being done with the translation.
      Now, hacking the game and inserting the translated script into the game...I have no idea

    2. Btw, did you extract the script from the game or are you playing through the game and translating every sentence you come across?

    3. It goes like this
      1)I translate while playing through the game.
      2)I send it to the editor, he edits it
      3)He sends me the edited version, we play through the game together with the translation. I tell him to change the text that he messed up too much while he was editing.

  9. If you guys are continuing to have trouble finding someone who can hack NeXAS, I have kind of a shaky idea for the translation to work. You guys must be familiar with ITH and Translation Aggregator, I assume?

    Though Translation Aggregator is intended to be used for machine translation, we can use it for manual translation as well, by adding required Japanese text and its translation to the file used for manual translation of names.

    And then, when you run get that text in the game, Translation Aggregator bypasses the machine translator (Google in this case) and directly outputs the text we entered earlier in the text file.

    (Ignore translation mistakes, please. Just trying to show the result of adding text manually. :) )

    However, Translation Aggregator can be kinda messy and troublesome to use for many people. So, what if a program is coded to read whatever text that ITH throws at the clipboard and then display the required manually translated text? (Rather simple to implement, I'd think?)

    Of course, this won't be neat like having the text entered into the game itself, but it could be better than nothing. Then, even if you guys don't find a NeXAS expert, your work won't go to waste.

    1. Can that be used to rebuild the .pac files after editing as well?

    2. I messed around with it; it seems that it does unpack the .pac file, and I confirmed that the unpacked stuff seems to be the Japanese script. It can't re-pack, as far as I know, but I'm pretty bad with all this technical stuff, so take it with a pinch of salt. Thank you for showing us that little program, though. Got it at least half figured out. Just need to figure out how to re-pack it and then we can start putting all this in.
