Good! That's good, working on small stuff next. The problem I've seen in many translators that start out strong is that they quickly get tired it. They rush things, trying to do all routes as fact as possible and then burn themselves out. Taking breaks and doing smaller things inbetween big route translations is an excellent idea.
I must say what ever you guys are doing to translate so fast, keep it up. If you ever put donations up, I'll send ya a couple of dollars. You guys are insanely dedicated and I must say its hard to find people like that anymore. Keep it up and good job.
Congrats and I can't wait to see what the next translated route will be.
Question though, if by chance you finish translating this entire FD before TakaJun completes the main game, would you consider contacting him and offer to translate the side routes?
No point in thinking about something like that so far into the future. This is a big project and before they worry about someone's other project they are most likely going to worry about their own.
Question: In this game, do you have routes for the main characters of the previous game (Chris, Wanko, Miyako, etc ), or do you just get their afterstories?
Everyone needs to chill out over the patch being released and lower your hopes before you end up severely disappointed.
It's not "just editing". There is also testing and further QC. And if he decides to have other people test it it may take a couple days easily.
Unless you want to be potentially disapointed I'd suggest setting your hopes around 2 Friday's from now. There's more that goes into editing and testing than you'd think.
The patch release system is made for people like me, who can't wait to play the game. If you've played the first game, you should understand.
On a side note: now we're forced to play the second game, without knowing completely about some of the characters in the first. Not that it matters for the story of this game. And biggest complaint of all: No Miyako route. 'Nuff said.
Not having the original translated completely means that they will probably leave Miyako's Afterstory, Agave's Afterstory and Tatsuko Route for last (or atleast until the original's are translated). No other route seems to be affected by those 2 missing routes.
I really hate the thought of you guys slaving over your computers for free - just so people like us can enjoy the game! You should really be accepting donations. I would be more than happy to donate - to show you guys how much your hard work really means to me.
I thought that was how private torrent websites get round the issue? They don't run advertisements because that would constitute profiting from copyright infringement, however donations are fine because there isn't an exchange of goods or services. I don't understand why copyright IS an issue here though, they're not advocating you illegally obtain the game, they're just providing a translation patch? You could quite easily (if they made it available) purchase the game and then install that patch? So in conclusion, i'd be happy and more than willing to donate if i could :)
I check this blog 1 time minimum weekly even tho i will not play the game yet , i plan to play it after i finish majikoi , but still i like to see the progress here xD and feel excited about it.
Yeah, before, they translated a route in about 3 months. Now, it took them 3 months to get to 50%. The Wanko route was released on the 5th of May, and now its the 30th of July ( for me ).
Yandere Translations is still working on it from what I understand. Their site is down at the moment and the owner (whoever that was) is missing so they are looking for a new site apparently. If I'm reading IRC properly Miyako is at 50%
Kakeai is that little skit thing that comes out when you exit the game.
And Monshiro's route is one of the longest route in the game, but Majikoi S's routes are really short, so it might not be as long as you guys think it is.
Perhaps kind of unrelated, but I'm sure some of you know that Minato Carnival (a company under Minato Soft) is making some sort of game with delinquent girls. Well, the trial is out, and you can download it right now. Go ahead and play with that one. It will entertain you for some time, at least until the new Majikoi S patch is released.
Erm, it isn't translated as far as i know though? You do realize most of us are waiting for a translation patch for majikoi S because we don't speak Japanese? ha ha, However if i'm mistaken and its in english too that VN looks pretty sweet too :D
Hey Pun-kun I hope you are reading a few comments! I know you won't listen to anyone on which you translate next, but let me suggest this: Translate a few short routes in between, because I heard some routes, like Margit and Kokoro, are so short, isn't it kinda sad if you translate the long ones first? Also it looks like more if you translate some short routes, and you might want to get more people to play it. In the end, no matter what you do, at least continue, you are the hero /a/ deserves.
Hey Pun-kun I hope you are reading a few comments! That reminds me - even the Hermit Crabs had their route translated in the original. Miyako got only 5% that were added to the Wanko patch, apparently as a teaser.
hey can you give us a break down off how long each of the routes are and how long are the routes compared to the original. compared to the side stores in the first game are they a lot longer or just a little bit longer.
I personally don't know about the length of each route, but I can tell you this - the Japanese version of this is 13.6GB. The trial is 500MB. You do the math.
Bear in mind, that the reason the trial will be so bloated is because it has to carry all of the setup and run files the main game will have too, so in the trial you have a lot of the nuts and bolts to get the game running, and then a little of the route. Whereas with the main game the actual playable game is exponentially larger, Pun-kun did mention before on a previous comment though that the routes are a little smaller than the first game, but they were mammoth anyway :D
Yep the routes are not as long as the original Majikoi.
Seems like everyone here has this misconception that Monshiro is going to be some huge route that is longer than any of the original Majikoi routes. As Pun-kun said, it's not.
They sacrificed route length for quantity of routes. (After stories+new routes).
Also, size of game has nothing to do with length. The script files themselves are a handful of megabytes. Audio, images, and the animated scenes are what make the game larger. I've seen short nukige hit 5 gigs just because it was filled with basically uncompressed audio and images.
The game is only 6.8 GB, not 13 GB, compared to the original which is 7.2 GB. And 3.2 GB of them are OP and ED videos, compared to the original's 600MB or so spent on videos. http://i.imgur.com/aQEn7.jpg ie. Majikoi S is much smaller than Majikoi.
Who knows? Maybe the guy has an aversion for pattankos or haughty ojou-sama type characters... or also a dislike for Inoue Jun's tastes... Be great if Kokoro's route be done soon, her interactions (and reactions) with Yamato are funny.
Kokoro is a 2nd tsun after chris but way funnier than chris! meh, margit route have no concrete story. IMO, minatosoft squeezed out a crappy route for margit only to satisfy popular demand.
Doesn't matter, the game is still awesome, and minatosoft will not stop there. There will be more releases with new routes and afterstories. Man I should really start learning Japanese. Envy those who know. Too bad am learing another language at the moment.
Im in the same boat as you are, i want to get started learning to read Japanese so i can play the series, but i feel that if i attempt to read it with a pre-schoolers knowledge of Japanese it will ruin the experience for me :/
I actually think that Kokoro and Yamato make a good match since Yamato makes every girl he dates into a total masochist in bed. Knowing that Kokoro is one of the girls with the most pride in the game, it would be fun to watch Yamato slowly break her down.
If not you could always just dump it for now, if all they are is those little intro exit messages i doubt anybody would care if they were getting the bulk of the story instead
Update? What update could you want? The route's apparently ready, so is the afterstory, but simple editing will take 2 weeks. Because fuck you, that's why.
Ya'll are like crack fiends, damn. Seriously, it's like you are dialing/texting your dealer's phone like crazy cause he hasn't replied for the past 2 hours.
THERE IS NO PATCH THIS WEEK. Accept that, and move on. Editor/TL have already said this.
Just wanted to let you guys know that you're amazing, not only for having picked up this project but also for working on it so quickly. No one's rushing you, though I think you already know that.
It's still one hell of a feat, though.
(Still got my fingers crossed for the Chris after-story!)
Hurrah!
ReplyDeleteWhen will the patch be out?
ReplyDeleteWhen it's done.
DeleteAsk Gabe Newell.
DeleteA person named "Receptionist" refused to let me speak with Mr.Newell, who else may I refer this very important question to?
DeleteNobody. Don't give up so easily; keep trying to get through to Newell.
DeleteJust kidding. The answer is Tsubame.
nuuuuuuuu T^T that means 1 more week doesn't it
ReplyDeleteYes! That means (Hopefully) next week is the week! Great job guys! I'll still be sure to verify things with Gabe though.
ReplyDeleteWhen HL2: EP3 comes out *Evil Laughter* *cough*.
ReplyDeleteIs that another game?
DeleteHalf life 2: Episode 3 (He means: never)...
DeleteWill the patch be released on the weekly update or sooner if it is finished before next Friday ?
ReplyDeleteI second this question. Will you release it earlier or will you wait till the next weekly update? I hope it's the former.
DeleteDude you're a fucking machine!
ReplyDeleteYou're all working too fast! At this rate, you'll be done before the first game is finished being translated!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work guys.
ReplyDeleteGood work and everything, but please god i hope i don't have to wait another full week :(
ReplyDelete*cries*
ReplyDeleteBased Pun-kun.
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing update! thanks for your hard work :D
ReplyDeleteYay! Looking forward to next update!
ReplyDeleteBtw, whats kakeai?
Are you Morgan Freeman/God?
ReplyDeleteI dont mind waiting another week but ya you guys are the bomb!! nice work guys keep it up.
ReplyDeleteGood! That's good, working on small stuff next.
ReplyDeleteThe problem I've seen in many translators that start out strong is that they quickly get tired it. They rush things, trying to do all routes as fact as possible and then burn themselves out.
Taking breaks and doing smaller things inbetween big route translations is an excellent idea.
Thanks you for your hard work!
Thanks for the hard work, man. I along with everyone else greatly appreciate your efforts on this. Please do take care.
ReplyDeleteI must say what ever you guys are doing to translate so fast, keep it up. If you ever put donations up, I'll send ya a couple of dollars. You guys are insanely dedicated and I must say its hard to find people like that anymore. Keep it up and good job.
ReplyDeleteSeconded for daonations!!!~
Deleteany chance your looking for more translators?
ReplyDeleteI second that!
DeleteCongrats and I can't wait to see what the next translated route will be.
ReplyDeleteQuestion though, if by chance you finish translating this entire FD before TakaJun completes the main game, would you consider contacting him and offer to translate the side routes?
I don't think that they're even sure about translating the whole game, so they probably haven't though that far ahead yet.
DeleteDon't count your chickens before they hatch.
DeleteNo point in thinking about something like that so far into the future. This is a big project and before they worry about someone's other project they are most likely going to worry about their own.
Yeah, the aforementioned " someone's else's project" seems to be fucking dead.
DeleteIt's had progress in the last week so how exactly is that dead?
Deletedaaaam better get the game soon XD
ReplyDeleteWell done on the Monshiro route completion! Banzai
ReplyDeleteQuestion:
ReplyDeleteIn this game, do you have routes for the main characters of the previous game (Chris, Wanko, Miyako, etc ), or do you just get their afterstories?
After stories. Unless you also count those "bad ends" with Miyako that pop up from time to time...
DeleteBad ends? H-scenes?
ReplyDeleteLikely those instances when you (Yamato) say something that flips her switch.
DeleteSo what - are they H-scenes or does she go into School days mode?
DeleteNo, it's more like a message made of blood appears on screen and says "YOU WAS RAPED" while reading Yamato's screen and hearing Miyako's evil laugh.
DeleteOr it also could be just a silly ending in which Miyako rapes you, though you can't see that. I prefer the first, tbh.
Just for the sake of curiosity, how do you get those ends?
DeleteIt pops up here and there wherein you are given the option to compliment her... and that's it. You get taken down, Miyako style.
DeleteIs there a possibility for a release date on the patch?
ReplyDeleteIf everything continues like this, it will probably be the 3rd or 4th or 4th of August. Of course, it could be sooner, since its just editing.
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs to chill out over the patch being released and lower your hopes before you end up severely disappointed.
ReplyDeleteIt's not "just editing". There is also testing and further QC. And if he decides to have other people test it it may take a couple days easily.
Unless you want to be potentially disapointed I'd suggest setting your hopes around 2 Friday's from now. There's more that goes into editing and testing than you'd think.
Fucking knew somebody was going to say that.
ReplyDeleteI don't even see the point of playing one route and waiting for the next route afterwards. It constantly pulls you out of the game.
ReplyDeleteI'll wait a bit till at least half of the game is translated, whether Pun-kun is up for the task or not.
The patch release system is made for people like me, who can't wait to play the game. If you've played the first game, you should understand.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note: now we're forced to play the second game, without knowing completely about some of the characters in the first. Not that it matters for the story of this game. And biggest complaint of all: No Miyako route. 'Nuff said.

ReplyDeleteThis Anonymous thing is really starting to annoy me...
ReplyDeleteI really hate the thought of you guys slaving over your computers for free - just so people like us can enjoy the game! You should really be accepting donations. I would be more than happy to donate - to show you guys how much your hard work really means to me.
ReplyDeleteMan, can´t wait for the release. But thank you for the hard work, keep on being awesome!
ReplyDeleteI think donations might be iffy because of copyright issues and profit or what not..... but I'd be willing
ReplyDeleteI thought that was how private torrent websites get round the issue? They don't run advertisements because that would constitute profiting from copyright infringement, however donations are fine because there isn't an exchange of goods or services. ReplyDeleteIf you want to play this after you finish Majikoi,
ReplyDeleteYou're gonna have a Japanese time.
you're gonna be waiting a looong time. progress is about 5 % a month and the longest route of all, agave, still needs translation. miyako is at 50%
ReplyDeleteYeah, before, they translated a route in about 3 months. Now, it took them 3 months to get to 50%. The Wanko route was released on the 5th of May, and now its the 30th of July ( for me ).
Deletejust Monshiro route or all heroines?
ReplyDeletehey i want to ask something
ReplyDeleteis there anyone who has miyako translated patch
for majikoi
just asking
Yandere Translations is still working on it from what I understand. Their site is down at the moment and the owner (whoever that was) is missing so they are looking for a new site apparently. If I'm reading IRC properly Miyako is at 50%
DeleteYOU GLORIOUS FAGGOT I LOVE YOU PUN-KUN.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, terrific effort. I hear that was the longest route in the game?
Kakeai is that little skit thing that comes out when you exit the game.
ReplyDeleteAnd Monshiro's route is one of the longest route in the game, but Majikoi S's routes are really short, so it might not be as long as you guys think it is.
The after routes are even shorter right? Like the Momoyo route?
DeleteJust asking, wouldn't it make more sense if this site's name was "Warui translations"?
ReplyDeleteThen it would make sense.
DeleteIt's not suppose to.
Then change it to "Waifu translations" lol.
DeleteSecond that!
DeleteI like it as it is. It doesn't have to make sense! :D
DeletePerhaps kind of unrelated, but I'm sure some of you know that Minato Carnival (a company under Minato Soft) is making some sort of game with delinquent girls. Well, the trial is out, and you can download it right now. Go ahead and play with that one. It will entertain you for some time, at least until the new Majikoi S patch is released.

ReplyDeleteI'm obviously expecting people to use a translating program like Translation Aggregator.
DeleteYeah,so they can understand 0 to 10% percent of what they just read. I'd rather wait.
DeleteAt least it's something. And hey, the percentage could go between 0% to 75%.
DeleteUnfortunately though, I don't know what they used this time but ITH is unable to find letters, so that means it's unable to translate it.
Still, the reading experience is somehow lost when you're using a translation program.
DeleteDo Margit next please ; W ;
ReplyDeleteI am dying here.
The project's just started and you're already dying?
DeletePlease, tell all the Miyako fans about your pain.
Hey Pun-kun I hope you are reading a few comments! About advice on route translations - Miyako. 'Nuff said.
DeleteHermit Crab! Hermit Crab!

DeleteNot really, Monshiro is like twice the size of the trial, dunno what you guys are expecting, but not that long.
Other routes are around the size of the trial.
Yep the routes are not as long as the original Majikoi.

Deleteie. Majikoi S is much smaller than Majikoi.
Yeah, sorry for being retarded, I hadn't removed the .iso files I extracted the game from, so 6GB became 13GB.
Deletetatsuko? margit?.....ok
ReplyDeletekokoro?......HELL NO
Dude, why? It gives you more playtime and develops her character further.
DeleteEh, Kokoro route has potential to be the best out of the three short routes. Why wouldn't you want Kokoro?
DeleteWho knows? Maybe the guy has an aversion for pattankos or haughty ojou-sama type characters... or also a dislike for Inoue Jun's tastes... Be great if Kokoro's route be done soon, her interactions (and reactions) with Yamato are funny.

DeleteYes, it was fun watching the first Chris H-scene in the original game. Damn thing went on for 30 minutes.
DeleteI appreciate all the hard work, Pun-kun! Please keep it up and if you decide to set up donations, I will gladly send you a few dollars.
ReplyDeleteYOU GUYS ARE FREAKING AWESOME!
ReplyDeletewtb momo-senpai!
ReplyDeleteyou are a god. i love you
ReplyDeletecant wait awesome job translator
ReplyDeleteIts 1 AM and it still isn't out yet? FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
ReplyDeleteProbably next week, I think.
DeleteD'AAAAAAAAWWWWWW!!!!!
DeleteAnd I was SO excited for a release this week.
:'(
Damnit, and i was hoping that this would be released this week to get me through the anime delay this week :'(
DeleteWill kakeai be done as well next week? :O
DeleteIt better be.
DeleteNah, probably not, there are 130 kakeai.
DeleteI can try to get some of them done, but don't expect all of them translated.
If not you could always just dump it for now, if all they are is those little intro exit messages i doubt anybody would care if they were getting the bulk of the story instead
DeleteSo fast, amazing!
ReplyDeletewoa guys, even if you haven't done with it all yet, a nice and small upadate for us would still be very nice... it's almost over Friday already...
ReplyDeleteyeh, it would be much appreciated.
DeleteUpdate? What update could you want? The route's apparently ready, so is the afterstory, but simple editing will take 2 weeks. Because fuck you, that's why.
DeleteEditing's finished. We're on final check and QC.
Deleteawwwwww
ReplyDeleteShort question since I'm assuming you are not editing the stuff, but just translating them:
ReplyDeleteHave you decided which route next yet?
C-C-C-Combo breaker!
ReplyDeleteits 10:40 in nyc whooooooooo cmon lets get an update soon :D
ReplyDeleteYa'll are like crack fiends, damn. Seriously, it's like you are dialing/texting your dealer's phone like crazy cause he hasn't replied for the past 2 hours.

second that so sad there was no afterstory in the first one.
Delete
